Fashion Essentials for your Summer Collection

Every season has its particular characteristic when it comes to dressing up. It’s all about thicker fabrics, darker colours and simple patterns in the winters. But as we move on from the chill of winters towards the scorching heat of summers, our wardrobe demands for a change. Summer dressing should always consist of light fabrics, bright colours and bold patterns. Embrace the long sunny days and put your stylish foot forward. Here are a few tips that could help you figure how to do that without burning a hole in your wallet. From Cotton Shirts to Beach Shorts, here’s our pick of summer fashion essentials to help you look your best during this season.

  1. A breezy Linen/Cotton Shirt:

The most exclusively essential summer staple, a Linen or a Cotton button-down shirt which provides ample versatility when the temperature soars. It’s one of those classics that can’t go wrong during summers. Wear it as a dress shirt or a casual shirt, it’s perfect for any occasion this season!

  1. The Perfect Summer Shades:

Sunglasses are simply the best summer accessory you can have in your wardrobe. These come in different shapes and colours ranging from the Wayfarers to the Aviators and the new in-trend round shaped sunglasses. Opt for the style of sunglasses that complement you and your outfit.

  1. A Stylish Suit:

Be it a summer wedding or just any work meeting, when it’s about having to wear a suit, we suggest wearing something composed of a light fabric like cotton or linen, or any cotton-linen blends. You’ll be more comfortable and fashionable during the hot days while keeping yourself away from the sweaty mess.

  1. An Inexpensive Watch:

Summer’s are a call for long vacations which involve occasional trips along the beach. If you wear watches at the beach, we suggest sticking to a cheaper alternative watch as it may catch humidity from the water. There are tons of cool, low-priced, water-resistant watches in the market that are your best companions for the season.

  1. Go light on your Feet:

Give your socks a rest and show some ankle! Socks are strictly optional during summer. Loafers, Sneakers, Derbies, even a pair of Flip Flops look good with a bit of ankle showing and are sure to compliment your attire for the day.

  1. A Simple Hat/Cap:

Whether you’re chilling at the beach, out for a small picnic in the park or just taking a stroll on a sunny day, a good hat will keep your head and your face protected from the heat. Trust us when we say, a hat works better than a sunscreen.

  1. Simple, Comfortable Chinos:

Say no to denims and heavy fabric trousers for the months of summer. Chinos are the best lightweight alternative that need to be added to your wardrobe. They may look unstructured or boring, hence rolling them up to your ankle would make a pair of chinos look casually cool.

Plain and casual basics are core to building an amazing and eye-catching outfit. Hopefully, after reading this guide, we know you’ll be rest assured as to what kind of staple pieces need to make the cut for your summer wardrobe, the inexpensive way.

An ultimate guide to different types of Collars

Contrary to popular belief, not all shirt collars are the same. Men’s shirts come in a multitude of collars and they lend character to the different looks these can create. To help you make the right decision, here is an ultimate guide to various collar types to suit different occasions.

Spread collar

The Spread collar is the basic collar seen on most shirts. With its crisp pointed ends and the wide spread between the collar points, the spread collar gives a nice formal look. Since the collar tips are spaced wide apart, this collar gives you the freedom to wear any type of tie or  even a bow-tie for that matter.

Pro Tip: If you have a narrow face, sport the spread collar as it can visually widen the wearer’s face.

Straight Point collar

The straight point collar is similar to the spread collar except that the spread between the collar is smaller. This is a more classic type of collar that looks great with a classic suit and makes the wearer look more elegant and polished. If you prefer slimmer neckties with a smaller knot, then this is the perfect collar type for you.

Pro Tip: The point collar looks great on a man with a round face; the collar’s elongating effect will help to even out the look.

Button-Down Collar

The button-down collar has buttons on the end of the points to fasten the tips to the shirt. The convenience is that the collar points always remain at the right place and in the right shape, regardless of your activity. While this collar can be worn with a tie, it is not a formal collar type. Hence, this is perfect for people who prefer minimalist outfits on non-formal days.

Pro Tip: The buttons on the collar always need to be fastened; to appear with undone collar buttons would be a faux pas.

Wingtip Collar

The wingtip collar is the most formal type of collar, usually worn for black tie events. It gets its name from the folded out collar points that look like tips of a pair of wings. This collar is designed specifically to be worn with a Tuxedo along with a bowtie.

Pro Tip: This collar type best flatters a narrow face.

Mandarin Collar

The Mandarin collar or standing collar is a short unfolded stand-up style collar. Popular versions of the Mandarin collar include the Nehru collar and the band collar. In recent times, the band type of collar is the most popular. The uniqueness of the band collar is that it does not have collar leaves. It’s just the thing for those who want the ultimate casual look.

Pro Tip: You can substitute your traditional outfits with mandarin collar shirts.

We hope this short guide to collars could be helpful to you. Tell us your favorite type of collar in the comments section!

Infusing Colours in your Summer Formal Wardrobe

One of the best things about summer is the presence of vibrant colours in one’s wardrobe. However, most men tend to be a bit conservative when it comes to colours. It’s no secret how relatively easy it is to pull off neutrals in formal wear, but let’s face it, when it comes to our wardrobe choices, we are limited. After all, how long can we be repeating the same shades of white, grey and black in our formal wear? For even though these are classics that can never go out of style, they can get repetitive.

Of course, it’s not easy – brighter hues can get overwhelming – but introducing a tinge of colour into your wardrobe can bring in a refreshing change. Experimenting and adding colours to your wardrobe is a sureshot way to look trendy and stylish. So it’s time to update your formal wardrobe with colours and express a trendier version of yourself!

Read on to find out which colours you can bring into your wardrobe.

The colour blue is perfect for summers. The lighter hues in the shade translate a feeling of peace and calm that seem relaxing in the scorching heat while the darker hues communicate a feeling of trust and confidence. This colour is a winner for every occasion in your office. Pair it with beige, black or grey trousers and top it off with sleek formal shoes.

Though most of you may not be comfortable with sporting this colour, yellow should have a permanent place in your wardrobe. It can completely liven up your simple office look. Yellow is uplifting and exudes cheerfulness and fun. It inspires creative thoughts and optimism, something that can really boost you up at work. If you are not totally confident with pulling this colour off, play safe by going for a lighter shade like warm yellow. It is, however, a statement colour and needs to be anchored with neutrals. Keeping this in mind, always pair it with surrounding pieces in white, blue, grey, beige or charcoal.

First of all, let’s get over the fact that pink is a colour meant only for the fairer sex. Pink is vivid and radiates the warmth, joy and love for life like you do. It will raise some eyebrows, but you have to be comfortable in flaunting this colour. Pink can be your go-to colour when you are bored of wearing normal black and whites.

Pink pairs well with the plenty of colours you already have in your wardrobe like beige, blue, brown, olive and white.

Red is a powerful colour associated with feelings of energy and passion. It projects confidence in a way few other colours can. Red comes across as being very flamboyant and is perfect to create a strong first impression. If you are not a big fan of this colour, you can try a varied range from bright red to profound maroon. It’s easy to pair it with any trouser you own be it black, cream, navy blue or khaki.

With brighter skies on the horizon, now is the time to bring in the trend of colours and stand out in the crowd. It is worth considering some of the hues you thought you couldn’t wear. So unleash that inner child within you.

Red Carpet Fashion Evolution – The 90th Academy Awards

Everyone, from the common man to the fashionistas, looks forward to the trendsetting Red Carpet fashion at the Oscars. As always, we saw a varied range of men’s outfits from different styles and cuts of suits to a variety of textures combined with embroidery. To mark the celebration of one of the most prestigious award ceremonies, let’s take a look at the fashion evolution that took place over a span of five years, that is from 2013 to 2018 at The Academy Awards.

Tuxedos, the ultimate red carpet classic, shone excessively on the 2013 Oscars red carpet. Actors Eddie Redmayne, Chris Evans and Chris Pine sported their rendition of classy black and white Tuxedo and finished the look with a stunning pair of shoes and perfect ties and bow ties.

This year we saw a fashion curve taking place as men took to wearing solid-coloured suits on the red carpet. We loved Ansel Elgort’s bold royal blue suit and a neat black bow tie,  Michael Strahan’s maroon tux underlined with black trim and singer turned actor Jared Leto adding a twist to his tuxedo by wearing a white blazer, black trousers and a red velvet bow tie.

Another year, another tuxedo, but 2015 was about experimenting with the classics. One of our favourites was Actor Adrien Brody wearing a white jacket with black lapels while David Oyelowo shone in his brick red attire and the host of the night, Neil Patrick Harris in his neat grey ensemble.

Shades of blue, grey and monotones graced the red carpet in 2016. Our favourite picks from the red carpet were Ryan Seacrest, popular radio personality, TV host, and producer, who looked dapper from head to toe in a well-fitted cool grey suit. Also, The Hulk protagonist Mark Ruffalo in his midnight blue blazer and Kevin Hart in his all-black ensemble with embellished outlines.

The year 2017 didn’t really experience bold fashion statements, yet actor Dev Patel went classic with a white jacket and a black bow tie. Ryan Gosling hit the jackpot in a classic black tuxedo with a white ruffled shirt, while, Pharrell Williams was seen with his own version of a morning coat on the red carpet.

Velvets, leathers, bold colours and exquisite embroidery were a few elements that were vividly seen on the red carpet. The top pick for the day had to be Black Panther protagonist Chadwick Boseman, looking stunning as he arrived at the red carpet in an intricately embroidered long black jacket paired with leather zippered boots. Other favourites of the day were Armie Hammer who was dressed in a red velvet-clad tuxedo and Timothée Chalamet who effortlessly pulled off an all white-on-white ensemble.

The Versatile Blue Shirt

Don’t have enough time to change for a party right after work? Has your work wardrobe taken over your closet? Running low on this month’s budget? No worries, we’ve got you covered! All you need is a single blue shirt to pull through. Remember, a standalone shirt never makes an entire outfit; accessories make the look what it is. Blue is known for its versatility and its ability to match most outfits.

Work Blues:

Now, let’s start with the most important part of your day:Work!
How does one rock the plain blue shirt in a formal environment?

Honestly, it’s the easiest to take care of. Pair your blue shirt with a pair of well fitted black, navy blue or even cream colored trousers; it’s the most simple work outfit. You can add a touch of professionalism with a simple brown tie.

But for an important meeting, or to make more of a corporate impression, throw on a blazer that for obvious reasons matches your trousers. If you are reaching for a modern day smart casual look, ditch the tie and swap your formal pants for your favorite black jeans. Throw on a grey or light brown casual jacket.

Wedding Looks:

Got a wedding to attend but are tired of wearing the same attire every single time? There are two ways to incorporate your simple blue shirt into any wedding attire.
For a more high-fashion approach, a three-piece navy blue suit is your best option. If you are looking for a simpler approach roll back your sleeves with ease and rock the suspenders and a bow tie look. Remember, a pair of your cream chinos will work best with this attire.

Casual Party

Unlike weddings, these parties call for comfort and style. Most people think you can’t wear the same shirt for occasions like these. Well, we are here to prove you wrong. Going for drinks after work can be a little dicey especially if you are the only one who looks like he stepped right out from the boardroom. Here’s where your blue shirt will come to the rescue.

Ditch your tie and throw on a cream blazer. Do make sure you roll up the sleeves to get a more simple and casual look. For a casual dinner date opt for a more simpler look by wear a light grey undershirt with some dark jeans and you’re good to go. Or try pairing a deep blue crew-neck sweater with white or dark blue jeans to effortlessly enjoy your night.

Beach Wear:

Going to spend the day atthe beach or at a resort? You would think that you have overdone this old blue shirt but by adding black or cream shorts and a simple hat you can add a touch of style while keeping the sun at bay. Pair this with Flip Flops or even your favorite shoes, i.e, if you don’t mind them getting filled with sand, to pull off this carefree and relaxed look. This look is super easy to achieve and refreshing to see. You can always unbutton two buttons and show off a dark brown necklace or a simple chain with a pendant. This look also works well with colored chinos.

#Beyond Boundaries: Saluting the passion of the blind

Don’t we all enjoy a good game of cricket? The smell of the freshly mowed grass, the sound of the thousands fans screaming and cheering as the ball goes straight over the stadium fences, or the anticipation of the last ball. But have you ever wondered what happens when you can’t see the ball coming at you and all you have to rely on is something that sounds like a rattle and the words, ‘Play, Play, Play’?

There are many visually challenged people who go beyond their boundaries to follow their passions not only for cricket but also in life. To celebrate and make people aware of these passions and dedications, we at Siyaram’s decided to collaborate with Rotary Club and the Blind Welfare Association of India to bring to light the lives of those who live in darkness. The event chosen was the Inter-State Blind Cricket Cup.

(Team Punjab bringing on the cheer before starting the match)

Blind Cricket is a version of cricket adapted for the blind and partially sighted players. The All-India tournament was a 3 day affair with teams from 8 different states across the country — Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. The tournament was held in Mumbai from 16th-18th January, 2018, with matches at Islam Gymkhana.

The first day saw a lot of enthusiasm from the 8 state teams at the opening ceremony on the Islam Gymkhana ground. Matches were played only in daylight so as to allow players a better chance to see the ball. The scores and live commentary was made available on the Zooter app. Their spirit was remarkable and there was never a challenge that the teams couldn’t face.

The rules of Blind Cricket are very similar to that of cricket with only differences in the way they play it. For example, the ball that they play with has to be a size 3 Mitre ball, or equivalent and has to be white, filled with ball bearings. This allows partially sighted players to see the ball and the contents allow blind players to hear it. The stumps are 10 inches wide such that partially sighted players can see them and blind players can touch it in order to correctly orient themselves when batting or bowling. Bails are not used. They commonly use of the ‘sweep shot’, in order to provide the maximum chance of the bat hitting the ball. To see what ball is used in this game, head over to our Facebook page: http://bit.ly/2GzGtRE

The excitement and zeal with which the teams played with was truly remarkable to watch! Our three-day event ended with the Gujarat team winning the tournament and the Madhya Pradesh team bagging the runner’s up title.
Players from team Gujarat like Hitesh Pandya and Ashwin Kumar were key players in their journey to victory. They were named ‘Best Bowler’ and ‘Best Fielder’ respectively. Not to forget Ketan Patel who was truly an honour to watch. He scored a total of 238 runs and took 3 wickets for his team in the tournament. He was also awarded the titles of ‘Man of the Series’ and the ‘Best Batsman’.  With grit, determination and passion these men achieved success, after all people with true passion make the impossible happen no matter the hurdles. Let us give a round of applause to these brave men and salute them for who they are!

5 Ways To Reinvent Your Style

2018 is beginning to set in and with it, has come many fashion trends for you to look out for. Be it the bold coloured shoes or the fashion tips on dressing the modern man or the experiments with colours, if there is one thing that we know is that the key to dressing the modern man is to maintain a smart, streamlined look. So here are 5 tips that you could use if you are willing to go the distance and reinvent your style for 2018.

1. Change your Office Wear
Bored of the everyday monotony of the same old formal wear? It is very rare that you would find offices that do not require their employees to follow a dress code. For most men working in the country, a crisp formal shirt and pants are a must-have. And even though you can’t show up to work dressed in shorts and wearing whatever you want, you can always accessorize your look and amp up your formal wear to suit your comfort and style. Start with incorporating patterns in your shirts, like stripes or checks.
If smart casuals are allowed, try the combination of smart separates, i.e a T-shirt paired with a suit or a smart jacket paired with a pair of well-fitted chinos or sleek leather shoes will also do the trick. For the weekend you can swap your formal trousers for a nice pair of jeans (ideally a straight leg or a tapered fit); avoid torn or baggy jeans. Keep things simple by sticking to shades of blue and black.

2 Grooming

You might deny this but a man is judged instantly on the way he has dressed himself. That is why being well-groomed is very important especially when going to work. Take care of your skin by applying moisturizer and sunscreen before stepping outside.

Your beard and hair should be trimmed and combed. 2018 has brought on a whole new level on hairstyles for the modern man to support. The textured crop is one of the coolest looks and haircuts for guys this year. Wear it short or long, with or without bangs and textured or messy.

Loose Pompadour

Another men’s hairstyle that is huge this year is the taper haircut. This scissor cut style is a classic look that can be worn short or medium length. Longer styles are also popular this year, for every hair type from straight to curly, like the Loose Pompadour, Textured Quiff Haircut, Side Part Combover or the Slicked Back style. These looks are bold, creative and will make people look twice.

Side Part Combover

Body odour is a big thing. No one wants to be standing or sitting next to someone who smells bad. Apply a cologne or a good body spray and don’t forget to have a bath after coming back from the gym or any physical activity.

3 Exercise

Take some time out from your schedule and get into shape. You don’t necessarily have to join a gym or start a vigorous workout. Taking a walk twice a day or even an early morning run will help you burn some calories and clear your mind. Zumba is an upcoming trend as a substitute for those who prefer a more fun approach for workouts. Zumba allows you to sweat it out through dance moves. You can also try Yoga if you are looking for a less exertive physical activity.

4 Tailored Clothing

Finding the perfect fit is very important as the garment will follow the contour of your body perfectly. Tailored clothing gaining prominence as everyone is looking to customise their clothes to their likes and designs.

There is nothing wrong with readymade wear when you are looking for immediate options. However, there is a luxurious feel to getting yourself a suit stitched just for you. Be it the perfect fit or the fact that a tailored suit will always highlight your personal style and physique. We know that finding a good tailor that understands your needs and preferences and the current trends may take some time, so skip the wait and experience our Tailor Fit services here: http://bit.ly/Siyarams_Store

Pro Tip: Did you know that tailor-fitted clothes last longer than readymade wear as you can choose the quality of the material!

5 Accessories

While women have a variety to choose from, men have very few accessories that they can use. Accessorise your outfit with these essential add-ons.

A Watch does more than just tell time, it has the ability to add a little sophistication and class to your look. Opt for a leather strap watch as it is bound to match most of your outfits.

When buying Belts, remember, the bigger the belt buckle the less formal it is. Dress belts typically have very small, flat belt buckles. Almost all dress belts will have either a gold-colored or silver-colored finish.

One rule that should stay with you in dress or casual wear: brown leather shoes go with a brown leather belt, and black with black. When pairing other accessories make sure that all the elements are from the same colour family.

Coming to Ties, the more you have the merrier as you can always wear the same suit but pair it with a different tie. When buying ties, make sure the fabric is soft: silk is the fabric of choice when it comes to men’s neckties as they are resistant to wrinkles and does not attract dirt because of its smooth finish. Make sure your tie is of proportionate length which may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but most ‘regular’ ties are around 57″-58″, while “extra-long” or “tall” sizes are closer to 62″-64″.

For years the default male wardrobe offered by retail stores hasn’t been particularly colourful. It focused heavily on variations of blue and white for shirts; navy blue and charcoal gray for suits. Experimenting with color hasn’t necessarily been a man’s forte, well until now. From vibrant red shoes to Chris Martin’s tie-dye, 2017 has seen it all. Look dapper and up your style for the coming year using our tips.

Chinos are a must-have item for the modern man. A smarter alternative to jeans, chinos can be worn all year round; from navy and wine to stone, tobacco and air-force blue. Tailored or slim fit, this style of trouser can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. Team them with a casual shirt for the day or a smart jacket for the evening. Whether paired with formal wear or casual wear, chinos are the perfect wardrobe addition to take you effortlessly from day to night.

Shoes are more than just something to cover your feet. They are one of the biggest style statements; if your shoes don’t match your outfit it’s a big no-no.
It can be quite difficult to style your pair of funky, bought on impulse shoes and colourful socks with your formal wear, well 2018 has only one thing to say to that- ‘Go for it!’. Shoes can turn your entire normal outfit to a bold one, that makes people look at it twice. Fashion, in the end, is not about what blogs tell you, but about what you like, and what you can pull-off.

Ripped jeans are very versatile and you can style them in no time as they’re functional, easy to wear and can add a bit of personality to your look.

Here are some styles to make you look more put together.

Street Style
It’s a really simple look, you can’t really go wrong with this one. Just put on a flannel over your old tee and you’re good to go.

Smart Casuals
Smart Casuals are slowly becoming the in thing for young men to incorporate into their lifestyle. A simple waistcoat, with a simple tee, and perhaps a scarf instead of a coat will give you a relaxed look for an evening stroll or perhaps for a casual dinner. Ripped jeans for a smart casual attire is very rare but not completely unheard of. So just go for it.

These styles are something that we definitely look forward in 2018, but in the end, wear your confidence first, and everything else will look amazing. There’s nothing worse than not being happy with what you have on. Push yourself, experiment, but also, always remember that, what makes everyone take a look twice is your smile.

Choosing The Perfect Outfit This Party Season

Who doesn’t like the month of December? With the year ending and the many parties to attend, and with this comes the question ‘What should I wear?’ Putting together a perfect outfit for each party can be a little taxing as everyone wants to look their best. To make sure that you look your finest this festive season, we have put together a guide that will help you decide your attire according to each occasion.

The Black Tie Event

A classic well-tailored tux is the best attire you can wear to such events. When dressing for a Black Tie event, make sure that your black three-piece tux is well fitted. A bulky suit or a very loose one will spoil the entire ensemble. Your white shirt can either be a single pleat or a double pleat. You can always experiment with your bow tie, but the most worn colour is black. Wearing a cummerband is optional if you are not wearing a waistcoat. Do keep in mind that your cummerband should match the colour of your bowtie. Complete your look with an elegant white pocket square and cufflinks. Lastly, no look is complete without well-polished shoes. A black leather pair will do the trick in this case. Make sure you are well-groomed when wearing this attire. If you are not comfortable going clean shaven, then make sure that your beard is trimmed well.

The Office Party

Your office party attire will depend on the dress code of the party. For a less formal look try pairing your light t-shirts or sweaters with your formal trousers and a smart jacket. Make sure your t-shirts complement the jacket. You can always accessorize your jacket with a simple pocket square. To add more elegance to this look, make sure your formal shoes are well polished.

Casual Get-Togethers

You can loosen the reins for this outfit. A plain shirt paired with casual trousers will do the trick. You can add a quirky bow tie or even suspenders to enhance your look. Since winter is here, layered clothing is back in trend. Try pairing a navy blue sweater with your white oxford shirt and a smart charcoal grey blazer over it. So even if it gets a little warm you can always remove the above layers and still have a complete independent outfit.

The most important thing to remember is that you should be comfortable in whatever you wear. Do make sure that you are well groomed and that your hair is styled and beard trimmed accordingly, to match the look. You can always accessorize your looks with a well-matched belt and proper shoes.
